Não posso falar de Tóquio (Tokyo) sem falar do Brasil. Lá no Brasil, mais especificamente em São Paulo, minha cidade natal, estamos muito acostumados a conviver com o povo japonês, visto que na cidade há uma grande colônia de descendentes dos primeiros imigrantes que vieram para o nosso país em 1908, devido a um acordo dos governos do estado de São Paulo e do Japão para acomodar famílias que trabalhariam nas fazendas de café. Do porto de Kobe a embarcação trouxe, numa viagem de 52 dias, os 781 primeiros imigrantes vinculados ao acordo imigratório estabelecido entre Brasil e Japão, além de 12 passageiros independentes.

It is not possible to talk about Tokyo without thinking back to Brazil. In Brazil, or rather at my hometown, São Paulo, we are very used to Japanese people since there is a big colony of descendants from the first imigrants who went to the country on 1908, due to an agreement between São Paulo state government and Japanese government to place families who would work at coffee farms. Leaving Kobe port, the ship transported the first 781 immigrants that were part of the imigration agreement set by the two countries. The trip lasted 52 days.

Hoje, esse povo que tem a fama de ser muito disciplinado, educado entre outos adjetivos, compõe a miscigenada população paulista.

Today this nice, self disciplined people among other characteristics are part of the multi cultural population of the state of São Paulo.

Sempre fui muito curiosa sobre a cultura deles, sobre o país em si e, como gosto muito de fotografia, as lindas cenas dos filmes e livros sempre me despertaram a vontade de conhecer A Terra do Sol Nascente.

I always had the curiosity to know more about their culture, about the country itself and as a lover of photography the beautiful scenary of the films and books brought me the desire to know The Land of the Rising Sun.

Assim, morando aqui na China, tivemos a chance de viajar para Tóquio. Foi uma semana incrível na capital do Japão. De lá, conhecemos, também, a cidade de Hakone, que fica a 01:30 de carro e que vale muito a pena, pois é uma cidade muito tradicional, com mais de cem hotéis no estilo tradicional japonês, com os famosos hot springs e ofurôs ao ar livre. No inverno, com temperaturas negativas, eu não conseguia pensar que conseguiria entrar em um ofurô ao ar livre. Mas, não é que é muito agradável mesmo? Sem falar da cama, totalmente no tatame... muito diferente! Vale a experiência! Sobre Hakone, farei um post exclusivo.

As I am living in China I had the opportunity to travel to Tokyo. It was an amazing week at the Japanese capital. From there we also went to Hakone, a city that is 1:30 hours by car and it is worth the visit. It is a very traditional city, with more than one hundred hotels completelly in the traditional japanese style. The hot springs with open air baths are everywhere. In the winter, at a negative temperature it is not easy to imagine that you can imerse in an open air bath. But I tried and it was a very welcome surprise! You can experience a low bed, on tatami mats. It was a very good experience! I will later write a post only about Hakone.

Tóquio é uma cidade muito fácil de se explorar. A rede de metrô é muito ampla e eficiente. Você pode comprar os cartões de transportes para turistas de forma que se possa deslocar por dois, três dias ou uma semana, sem limite. Montamos um roteiro bem turístico antes de ir e visitamos estes locais nesta primeira viagem. A Tower Tokyo, ícone da cidade, construída em 1958, tem que ser visitada, embora haja outros locais mais altos e modernos para se observar a cidade, como a Tóquio Skytree, que é o edifício mais alto do Japão. De lá você tem uma vista 360 graus e, se tiver a sorte de o tempo não estar nublado, conseguirá ver o Monte Fuji, o famoso Fujisan!

It is very easy to explore Tokyo, as it is a very tourist-friendly city. The subways lines cover a big part of the city and you can buy 3 or 4 days passes or even a week pass, without limit. We planned in advance a very touristic route and for this first trip it was what we followed. Although there are other higher buildings and observatories in the city, the iconic Tokyo Tower, built in 1958 is a must see. The Tokyo Skytree is the highest building in Japan. From there, you have a 360 degrees view and if you are lucky and the weather is not cloudy, you can see the Mount Fuji, the notorious Fujisan!

O Edo Tokyo Museu é um lugar excelente para se conhecer a história do Japão. Maquetes incrivelmente detalhadas te dão uma ótima noção do que era o país no passado!

The Edo Tokyo Museum is a good place for you to know more about the history of Japan. Very detailed models can give you a good idea of how the city was in a past very far away.

Alguns bairros muito peculiares, que trazem toda a atmosfera de Tóquio, são imperdívieis. Saia sem destino por Ginza, Shibuya, um centro fashion com uma vida noturna vibrante. Akihabara é um distrito conhecido por suas lojas de eletrônicos e produtos de anime e mangá.

Some neighborhood are very famous, with a peculiar athmosphere that makes Tokyo unforgettable. Walk around in Ginza, in the Shibuya district without a destination. The ladder being a fashion center with a vibrant night life. Akihabara is famous for the electronic shops as well as for the products of anime and manga art.

Um passeio muito legal para quem tem espírito bem aventureiro, é dar uma volta de kart pela cidade, com roupas típicas dos personagens do Mario Bros. Com certeza, rende boas risadas!!

For those who have an adventurous spirit, a very cool activity is driving a kart through the city, dressed in Mario Bros characters cloths.

Quer comer um tradicional e genuíno Sushi? Vá à região do Mercado de Peixes Tsujiki. Mas, você deve estar se perguntando: "mercado de peixes?" Sim... imagine um lugar limpo, muito organizado e que não tem aquele cheiro característico deste tipo de lugar. Este é o mercado de peixes de Tóquio. Vários restaurantes muito pequenos à disposição daqueles que vão ao encontro do melhor sushi do mundo! Entramos em um pequeno local e tivemos uma grata surpresa! Vale tentar...

Do you want to eat a traditional and genuine Sushi? Just go to the Tsujiki Fish Market. If you ask yourself "but, a fish market?", my answer is "Yes!". Think about a very clean, organized and without that "fish smell", common at fish markets. So, that is the Tokyo fish market. Several small restaurants inviting you to enter and enjoy the "best sushi in the world" will be waiting for you. We chose a very small one and it was really a nice surprise. Simply delicious! You should try it.

Tóquio oferece diversão para todos os gostos. Você pode escolher os diversos walking tours, de acordo com o seu interesse (museus, templos, compras, street food, etc.) . Nos arredores do Palácio Imperial há tours a pé, de bicicleta, como você preferir.

Tokyo has many different experiences for everyone. You can choose among the many walking tours according to your interest (museums, temples, shopping, street food, etc). Walking tours and bike tours are available at the Imperial Palace gardens.

Em Shibuya tem o cruzamento mais movimentado do mundo! Sentar-se em um Café e observar o movimento, saboreando um delicioso capuccino ou, se quiser entrar ainda mais no clima, um saquê, a cena é impagável.

The most famous and crowded crossing in the world is in the Shibuya district. Have a seat and enjoy a coffee or if you want to be more traditional enjoy a cup of sake. Watching the scene is a funny experience.

Os amantes da gastronomia vão encontrar, também, aulas de como fazer Sushi! Combine um almoço com uma aula de culinária!

The gastronomy lovers will find Sushi classes. Learning how to do it while enjoying your own meal is a nice and funny activity.

Um outro detalhe da cidade é que você não vai encontrar latas de lixo nas ruas, no metrô ou em outros locais públicos. Cada um é responsável por seu lixo, assim, ninguém joga nada no chão e leva embalagens ou outros tipos de lixo para descartar em casa, adequadamente. Imagine uma cidade limpa? Sim, Tóquio é muito limpa!

A another detail is that you will not find trash cans along the way in the public spaces, streets, subways, etc. They think each person is responsible for their own trash, keep your packings to discard it at home. So, can you imagine a clean city? This is Tokyo.

Até o último dia eu não tinha conseguido ver o Fujisan! O tempo estava nublado e poucas vezes limpava a ponto de vermos o seu cume. Esta foi a minha única frustração, pois "como é que você vai à Roma e não vê o Papa? Vai à Nova Iorque e não vê a Estátua da Liberdade?" Quando estávamos no avião, decolando, já nos despedindo da cidade ele se apresentou lindo e enigmático... Eu consegui!

It was the last day of our trip and I had not yet seen Fujisan. It was cloudy most of the time and the weather was not clean enough to see it. This was my only frustation i felt while being there. "How do you go to Rome and not see the Pope? How do you go to New York and do not even see the Liberty Statue?" I had to endure it. However, after the plane took off and we were about to say the last goodbye to the city, there he was: wonderful and enigmatic. I did it!
